![]() I can't promise that it is perfect, but I think it works. Well that's what I'm using at the moment. I've left "Use a compatible file name for writing to sidecar file" un-checked, but only because I'm not sure what it means. The solution is in the Highlight Reconstruction module, and in specific, the clipping setting you tell Darktable to just discard the magenta highlight color information. So, the blown highlights end up with a pink/magenta cast. Set "Write to sidecar files" plus setting whether data is written to "item and XMP sidecar" or "XMP sidecar" The basic problem is that the raw sensor data probably is tilted that way after adjusting for white balance. In fact, it features the major functions a photographer would need to create great images. Not to mention, it is both a lightroom and darkroom software which was built by photographers. Settings -> Sidecars - Reading and Writing Sidecars Darktable The first mention on our list is Darktable a tool that is both free and open source. Set "Update file modification timestamp when files are modified" ![]() Settings -> Behaviour - Reading and Writing Metadata Once set Darktable will ask if data from changed XMP files should be loaded. However, a preference does exist in Darktable that will cause Darktable to look for changed XMP files at start up and ask if the database should be updated with values from the changed XMP files. Subsequent changes to the XMP file by any other software are not visible to Darktable. Once an image has been imported into Darktable the database entries take precedence over the XMP file. If an XMP sidecar file exists then data is taken from this file. As soon as the same image has been changed in Lightroom and digiKam, the digiKam version no longer receive changes from Lightroom. This happens when an image is initially imported into Darktable. The first important point is to keep in mind that Darktable keeps all metadata in its database for fast access. I think that I've found the required settings to get DigiKam and Darktable to cooperate over tags and star ratings. ![]()
